Approaching Belfast

While I have many favourites, "Approaching Belfast" seems an appropriate choice for my first Featured Image. The title refers to the Tugboat, in the right hand side of the picture, as it approaches the Port of Belfast defined by the feint outline of the cranes on the horizon.

This image is the only perfect one out of several taken, due to extensive sun flare being a problem. Looking at it you'd be forgiven for thinking the temperature was in the high 20's C when in fact the temperature was -5 C.

I feel this picture epitomises my aspiration to take the viewer beyond mere picture postcards and demonstrates how subjects we thought we knew well can be seen in a different light.

The light in "Approaching Belfast" is critical, as it creates the mood and mystery that makes it a picture I for one shall certainly revisit.
