From placing an order how long will it take to be delivered?
I endeavour to have all orders dispatched and with customers within 28 days of receipt of order. In many cases the customer will be in receipt of their goods much earlier than this. I reserve the right that in exceptional circumstances, for example a postal strike or some other unforeseen events that dispatched goods may take longer than 28 days to reach the customer.
What safeguards are employed to ensure the safe delivery of ordered goods?
All posted items are securely packed and are posted using recorded delivery ensuring the progress of the goods can be tracked.
What is your Returns Policy
If ordered goods are delivered damaged, please contact me immediately.
Does the Watermark "AJC" appear on ordered prints?
No, the Watermark as seen on the website is used merely as a Security Tag to protect against unscrupulous individuals who might try to download and reproduce illegally my images without my permission. For more information visit Legal on this website.
Do I manipulate my images?
No. When I scan the image that was originally captured on transparency film I may repair any Scratches, Newton's Rings or Blemishes that were present. For the purposes of this website and how I have presented the images, many of them in Letterbox Format, I have achieved this presentation by selectively cropping the original image but only where I feel the resultant composition justifies it.
Why Yard Cards®?
In Belfast when referring to the shipyard people frequently call it "The Yard". As the first collection of images presented as cards were of Belfast Shipyard the name Yard Cards® seemed right. Subsequently it has become the generic Brand Name that I hope will become synonymous with the quality and uniqueness that is my work.
Do I undertake Commissions?
Generally no, but I prefer to hear the proposition/brief before totally dismissing it.
Do you present your work in larger sizes?
Not on this website. I do however present my images in larger sizes upon specific enquiry. Recently I completed a print of 1 metre x 0.5 metre (39inches x 19½inches approx.) that when framed measured 1.5 metre x 0.8 metre (60inches x 30inches approx.). To enquire about a larger framed image from this website contact me using the email link.
What Camera do you use?
The early images (1975 - 1985) were taken using a Yashica TL Electro X ITS 35mm film camera. Later images were created with the help of an Olympus OM1N 35mm film camera.
What film do I capture my images on?
Mainly Kodachrome 64 and 25 (25 was withdrawn by Kodak in 2005 approx.) with some images captured using Fuji Velvia - 35mm transparency film in all cases. The transparencies are then scanned to provide high resolution digital files.
Have I ever exhibited my work?
Yes, I held a one-man Exhibition of my work in 1998 and more recently exhibited as part of a Photographers Exhibition at Yard Gallery in Holywood. Reviews of my work have featured in several articles both in print and on the airwaves. The pleasure of the website is having my work on permanent display that can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere at anytime who has access to the internet, whether fixed or on the move.
